Identify Pest: Fly & Maggot Infestations and Problems

house-flyA fly infestation turns an occasional pest into a menace. There are billions of Flies in the New York area; and dozens of different species. In addition to spreading disease, Flies are a true nuisance and many can deliver a painful bite. Getting rid of Fly infestations and preventing them from swarming in your home or business must be a top priority.

Fly Infestation Problems Maggot-Infestation

maggot-infestationFlies are attracted to human and animal waste as well as anything that is decaying. They vomit the contents of their stomachs onto food in order to predigest it and then suck it back up. They leave their disease-laden feces anywhere they land. They will lay their eggs on any food source, including open wounds of people and animals.

Hatched Fly Larvae are wriggling, white worm-like creatures called Maggots. They can be found in food, garbage, human and animal waste, and decaying matter. Given the right conditions, they can mature into hundreds of adult Flies.

Getting Rid of Flies

Different Flies require different kinds of treatment. Make sure you know the species you are dealing with. Also, take care to find the source of the infestation. Killing off a single generation of Flies just buys you a break, as new ones will come to take their place. If your Fly infestation is near a kitchen, or where elderly or children are present, you may need to use different techniques to get rid of the infestation.
