How to Stay Wasp Free

It can be hard to enjoy a relaxing summer day on the porch when there’s a lot of buzzing around the house. Wasps can certainly turn a peaceful day into one that’s filled with pain and annoyance. Fortunately, there a few ways in which you can keep those pesky stingers from getting too close.

Peppermint Oil
There is one scent that can repel a lot of different pests, including wasps: peppermint. Start by planting a mint plant in your garden to keep them away from some areas on your property. You can also purchase a concentrated peppermint oil to help get rid of the nest. Carefully place some of this peppermint oil on or around the nest; hopefully, the wasps will abandon it.

Soap & Water
What could be more simple than mixing some harmless dish soap and water into a spray bottle? While this solution is simple, it can also be very deadly to wasps. Spraying soapy water onto the nest and the wasps themselves will cause their breathing pores to become clogged. This is an environmentally friendly way of exterminating wasps.

Traps
If there’s a pest, then there’s more than likely a matching trap to go with it. These traps will have a sweet food source like sugar or honey on the inside. The wasps will enter, but they will have no way of escaping. Try to place the traps as close to the nest as possible. There are many varieties of wasp traps, with some of them even being decorative for your patio, porch, or deck.
