How to Prep Your Home for Bedbug Treatment

You recently went on vacation and it was an amazing experience that you wish you could relive over and over again. However, upon returning home you noticed that your home is now infested with bedbugs. In order to rid your home of these blood-sucking pests, you’ll need to prepare your home for a bedbug treatment.

Removal of Personal Belongings
First things first, remove all pets from the premises and prepare to not be home for upwards of half the day. Now that the little family members are safe, begin to remove all of your personal belongings from closets, drawers, and throughout the floor area of your home. Place any items you remove from these areas on top of tables, countertops, and in bathtubs.

Hot Washes
Now it’s time to gather all of your linens, bedding, clothing, and any other fabrics. Wash all of these using the hottest temperature setting possible on your washer. This will kill any bedbugs that are hiding out and will prevent them from infesting your home after the treatment has been completed. If the items can be placed in the dryer, run them through the dryer as well on a hot cycle.

Household Chores
You can now start vacuuming the entire house to try and get rid of as many bedbugs as possible. Go over all of the carpets, flooring, bed frames, bookcases, etc. As soon as you are finished vacuuming, immediately empty the contents out, outside of the house. Proceed to move all furniture away from walls so the treatment can get behind them. In order for the treatment to be super effective, it will need maximum exposure to your home.
