Imagine living outside during the cold, rigid winter months. If that thought is almost inconceivable, think about how all of the rodents outside feel. Unfortunately for us, most rodents will look for a warmer place to live for the next few months — a.k.a. our homes! Check over this list and see if your home could possibly be infested with rodents.

  • Live Models – The most obvious sign of a rodent infestation is seeing a mouse or rat in the flesh. The moment you spot a single rodent in your home, you should automatically assume there are others. Rodents breed at an alarming rate and should be removed immediately.
  • Pitter Patter – If you listen carefully, sometimes you’ll be able to hear if there are rodents in your house. Mice and rats can oftentimes be heard squeaking and moving about in the attic and between the walls. Keep an ear open before you go to bed to listen in on any possible pests scurrying throughout your home.
  • Left Behinds – Discovering a live rodent in your house might not happen right away, but there’s a good chance you’ll run into its droppings. House mice can produce roughly 50 small pebbles of feces per day, making them easy to spot if you know where to look. Common rodent hangouts where you’ll find droppings include the pantry, kitchen cabinets, underneath sinks, along baseboards, and in the attic near storage boxes.
  • Chew Marks – Rodents loves to gnaw and chew their way through your home. Inspect your home for small gnaw marks on any type of plastic, cardboard, hardwood, and piping. Some rodents have also been known to chew through electrical wires in the walls, making them a serious fire hazard!

Having a pet mouse inside of a cage is okay, but having a family of them live in your walls is something you need to remove as soon as possible!
