Insect Prevention Tips

Posted on November 9th, 2015 by Knockout Pest Control

You can run, but you can’t hide! Insects are everywhere and unfortunately they can make their way into almost any building. Each bug serves its own purpose in the environment, but having them in your home is not beneficial at all. Fortunately, there are some preventative measures you can take to avoid housing these little fellas.

Know Thy Enemy – Before any plan of attack is put into action, you must first do your homework. Know which insects surround your area, and if any are currently living in your home. It’s always wise to know what you’re up against and what specific courses of action to take. Especially since there are 300 different species of insects living in the state of New York right now.

Keep it Clean – Constantly maintaining and cleaning your home is the best way to keep insects out of your home. Pests are attracted to unkept messes such as food crumbs, spilled drinks, and dirty laundry that sits out for too long. Be sure to clean up any mess immediately after it’s made and to throw all garbage in a waste bin. Regular house cleaning, and confining eating to one room in the house, will certainly lower your chances of having insects crawling all over your house.

Knights In Shining Armor – Spiders are some of the scariest insects out there. While their reputation is less than stellar, they are your reinforcements for getting rid of every other insect. With a license to kill, these eight legged monsters will help you exterminate bugs no matter the type or species. If you happen to see a spider, be cautious and make sure it’s not venomous, pick it up, and relocate it outside of your home.

There’s only so much an average person can do to prevent insects from inhabiting their home. Sometimes bugs can overpower your efforts and containment turns into a lost idea. As soon as this happens, pick up the phone and call your local pest control experts. At Knockout Pest Control, our professionals will exterminate any pests in your home.
