How to Find Out if You Have Bed Bugs
Bed bugs are a type of pest that can easily infest your home. These blood sucking insects will hide in your home, waiting to feed on you and your pets. Over the last few years, bed bugs have made a comeback in their population and are easily found, especially in large cities. Where They Hide
The most common place to find bed bugs is — in your bed! Since they are nocturnal and feed on blood, the bed is the perfect place for them to enjoy their next meal. Not only are they found in beds, but also furniture, carpets, and electrical sockets. Bed bugs are drawn to carbon dioxide so no matter where they hide, if they sense you breathing then they will come after you.
Precautionary Measures
It pays to always be alert and aware of your surroundings whenever you sleep outside of your home, or if others stay the night in your guest room. Once you notice a bed bug bite then your home may already be infested. Their bites will leave you with a red welt that may or may not itch.
Search & Destroy
The eggs and newborns of bed bugs are not usually visible by the naked eye. When you look for bed bugs, you’ll most likely only find the adults. Search for them at night and in the dark because they will hide during the daytime, or if the lights are on. If you suspect that you may have bed bugs, grab a flashlight and shine them on your bed in the dark. Once the light shines on them they will make a run for it! Don’t forget to inspect underneath sheets, in the bed frame, and look for small black pieces of feces.
