In your home, at a restaurant, or in the street, cockroaches are the one thing you never want to see. You know that you don’t want to see them, but do you really know anything about them? Here are a few facts about cockroaches that you might’ve not known.

  1. Getting A-head – No one can deny the durability of cockroaches, but did you know that they can live without their heads? Unlike other animals, these pests breathe using holes throughout their body. So if their head were to come off somehow, their lives would go on as normal without skipping a beat!
  2. All You Can Eat – Certain species of cockroach prefer to exist in specific living conditions and will feed on specific food. However, if they wind up in an area that is different from their norm, they won’t have too much trouble adapting. No matter if they’re in the sewers, forests, or houses, these creepy crawlers will always find a source of food to their liking.
  3. The Flash – You walk into a dark basement and notice little dark masses scurrying around as you turn the lights on. What were those fast, little brown streaks? Cockroaches can move at an astounding rate of 50 times their body length per second!
  4. Dirty Dishes – Eating in a house or restaurant that has a cockroach infestation greatly increases your chances of getting sick. They will pick up bacteria as they travel, and pass it off to humans in the form of E. Coli or Salmonella. A cockroach infestation is the worst nightmare for food and beverage businesses.
  5. Break On Through – The average household cockroach, German or American, can slip through a crack anywhere from the width of a dime to a quarter. So when you’re going around your home or business to seal up any holes or cracks, keep in mind that no crack is too thin and they should all be plugged up.
